May Activities Calendar


I am a little behind on this one because I have so much going on right now but I will continuously update it to finish as quick as possible so make sure to check back frequently.



Book for Teacher
Supplies: Ribbon, Markers, Crayons, Hole Punch, Computer Paper
Make a personalized book from your child's knowledge of their teacher. Use computer paper (about 4 sheets) and fold them in half on top of each other, hole punch the top and insert ribbon into the holes to tie them and hold the pages together. Ask your child questions about their teacher and write them with a black marker on each page and then your child can write their answer underneath with another color and draw a picture with crayons to go with the answer.

Mother's Day Card (M. Day gift)

Supplies:Scissors, Markers, Construction Paper, Glue Stick
Cut out a large heart and a smaller heart to glue inside of it. Have your child color it and write Happy Mother's Day Grandma in the middle.

Flower pot (Teacher gift)
Supplies: Flower pot, Paintbrush, Acrylic paint, Paint Pen
Have your child paint a terracotta flower pot for their teach and design it however they want. Then with a paint pen, or with a thin paint brush and a very steady hand, write on the pot "Thanks for helping me to grow" and have your child sign their name and put their hand print on the pot with paint.

Macaroni Jewelry (M. Day gift)
Supplies: Dyed Macaroni (ziplock bags, food coloring, rubbing alcohol, paper towel, macaroni), string
Dye noodles and let them dry then string them onto string or hemp to create a necklace. Knot one of the ends so the macaroni wont fall off the string and let your child create a necklace.

Post-It Note (Teacher gift)
Supplies: picture frame, ribbon, hot glue gun, computer paper, sharpie/marker, scrapbook paper, sticky notes
Get a clear frame from the dollar store, cut out a section of scrapbook paper to fit inside the frame, hot glue gun ribbon to the front of the frame and leave a small unglued space to fit a pen into the ribbon also hot glue sticky notes to the front. If you want to add more design hot glue a ribbon to the corner of the frame and/or draw a monogram with a sharpie on computer paper and then cut it out, paste it on to the scrapbook paper with a glue stick and put the scrapbook paper with the monogram on it into the picture frame.

Popsicle Stick Treasure Box (M. Day gift)
Supplies: Popsicle Sticks, Crayons, Foam stickers, Ribbon
Hot glue gun popsicle sticks together to create a treasure box, let your child color in the popsicle sticks with crayons and use a ribbon/string to tie on the lid to the top. After the popsicle sticks have been colored in, let your child decorate the rest of the box with stickers.

Hand Bouquet (M. Day gift)
Supplies: Construction paper, pencil, scissors, ribbon, pipe cleaners
Trace your child's hand on construction paper, cut them out, hot glue gun the cut-outs to pipe cleaners and then wrap the pipecleaners around the middle with ribbon.


“LOVE” Canvas Painting (M. Day gift)
Supplies: Canvas, Painters tape, paintbrush, paint
Take painters tape and make the word "LOVE" with it on to a canvas. Have your child paint and decorate the entire canvas. When the paint has dried remove the tape so that you can clearly see the word "LOVE".

Nerf Gun Target Range
Supplies: Nerf gun, Tin Cans, Cardboard, Computer Paper, Sharpie, Tape
Do this either indoor or outdoor. Make targets/bullseyes out of computer paper and tape them onto tin cans or cardboard boxes. Spread the targets around the area and then give your child a nerf gun to seek out the targets and shoot them.  

Obstacle Course
Supplies: Anything around the house (Ex: Chalk, Buckets, Hula Hoop, Pillowcase)
Can be done either indoor or outdoor. Set up a range of activities your child can accomplish, if you want it to be challenging then time your child the first time they do it and then try and get them to beat their time or switch up the obstacles.
Ex: Hopscotch --> Hula Hoop for 15 seconds --> Pillowcase Hop from one point to another --> Hop on one foot from one point to another --> Zig zag through a line of buckets

Bake Cake/Cupcake (M. Day gift)
Supplies: Cake/Cupcake Mix, Icing, Sprinkles, Butter knife
Make something tasty from cake or cupcake mix and then let your child help decorate with icing and sprinkles. Give these to Grandma as a mother's day gift.

Wrapping Paper (M. Day gift)
Supplies: Brown Shipment Paper, Markers/Crayons/Stamps
If you order things online you are used to getting boxes filled with brown paper for shipping purposes. Use this brown paper (you can also find the brown paper rolls at dollar stores) and lay it out on the floor for your child to decorate with markers, stamps, paint, etc. And then use the finished product as wrapping paper for a Mother's Day gift.

“Stained Glass” Art
Supplies: Construction Paper, Scissors, Tissue Paper, Scissors, Exactoknife, Glue Stick
Make a design on construction paper and cut it out with scissors and the inside parts with an exactoknife, cut out pieces of tissue paper to put over the cut out areas and glue them onto the construction paper. When finished hang it on a window for the stained glass effect.

Tell Time
Supplies: Paper plates, glue stick, popsicle sticks, marker, 
Using two paper plates write 5-60 minutes on to one and then 1-12 hours on the other, cut on either side of the hours to make it like a flap. Use popsicle sticks and cut one in half for the short hand. Put the popsicle sticks in the center of the plate with the hours on it and then put the plate with the hours on it on top of the plate with the minutes on it and glue together in the middle, this way when you lift the flap you can see what the hour number mean in minutes.

Sidewalk Games
Supplies: Chalk
Create games outside with chalk on sidewalks such as hangman, tic tac toe, hop scotch, trace your child laying the ground, just do all sort of fun things outside with chalk today. There are so many creative and fun things that you can do.

Caterpillar Toys
Supplies: Plastic Easter Eggs, Pipcleaner, Goggly Eyes, hot glue gun
Use plastic Easter eggs that you still may have laying out from the Easter Egg hunt and string them onto a pipecleaner, hot glue gun goggly eyes onto the front egg and then hot glue gun a pipecleaner cut in half for antenna.

Clothespin Flash Cards
Supplies: Clothespin, Notecards, Markers
Write the letters of the alphabet on to clothespins, write sight words on notecards and have your child attach the coordinating letter clothespins to the cards. At the bottom of the card make a rhyming word to the sight word. For example: DOG can be on the card, your child must find the clothespin letters to spell the word, on the bottom of the card write --OG and have your child find a letter to complete the word to make it rhyme with DOG.

Car Tunnels
Supplies: PVC Pipe, Matchbox Cars
Use different lengths of PVC pipe and put them outside, down the stairs or from a table to the floor so that your child can put their cars down the pipe and let them slide down to the other side.

Bathtub Paint
Supplies: Bathtub Paint (1 Tbsp Cornstarch, 4-6 Pumps Baby Shampoo, 2-3 Drops Food Coloring, 1-2 Tsp Water), Muffin tin
Make different colors of bathtub paint and put it into a muffin tin to take to the bath, let your child finger paint on the walls with the paint.

Outdoor Reading Nook
Supplies: Hula hoop, blanket, hanger, hemp string, pillow/blanket to sit on
Attach a hanger to a hula hoop using hemp string, place a blanket over the hanger and the hula hoop and then hang the hanger from a branch on a tree. For comfort put another blanket or a pillow inside the nook for your child to sit on.

Making Stamps
Supplies: Foam Stickers(or Foam Sheet and hot glue gun), Ink Pad, Wooden Block
Put foam stickers on to wooden blocks to make stamps. If you want to make one from scratch then cut out a shape from a foam sheet and hot glue gun the shape on to a wooden block.

Make a Pinwheel
Supplies: Cardstock, Dowel, Hotglue gun, Button, Crayons
Cut a perfect square out of the card stock, let your child color it however they want, fold the square into a triangle, unfold and then cut each crease leaving about an inch uncut in the center. Bring the corners to the middle and glue them down then hot glue gun a button to the middle of the pinwheel. Hot glue gun the pinwheel to a dowel.

Paint a Fish
Supplies: White paper, Paints, Paintbrush, Pebbles, Foam Sheet (Blue), Hot glue gun, Googly Eyes
Draw a fish bowl on white paper, Paint your child's left hand and have them place their hand in the middle of the fish bowl, Hot glue gun googly eyes to the fish when it dries, cut out circles of the blue foam sheet and hot glue them above the fish to make bubbles. Hot glue gun pebbles to the bottom of the fish bowl.

Paint with Bubbles
Supplies: Bubbles, Food Color, Dish soap, Containers to hold bubble paint, Bubble wand
Mix bubbles, dishsoap and a couple drops of food coloring into containers. Dip the bubble wand into the bubbles and blow bubbles in the direction of the paper. Let these pieces of artwork dry.

Shape Photography
Supplies: Digital Camera, Computer paper, Pen
Draw a variety of shapes (circles, square, triangle, etc) and give your child a camera to take around the house and outside to find these shapes in everyday objects. 

Painted Beach Bucket
Supplies: Bucket, Acrylic Paint, Paintbrush
Take a dollar store bucket and let your child paint on it. Now they have a personalized bucket to take to the beach with them and it will look great!

Footprint Bee
Supplies: White Paper, Yellow and black paint, Googly Eyes, Hot glue gun, Paintbrush
Paint your child's foot yellow and then let them place their foot onto a white paper. Let it dry and then paint black stripes and antennas on the "bee foot". Then hot glue gun googly eyes to the top of the foot to make the bees face.

Connect the Alphabets
Supplies: Paper, Crayon/Pencil
Draw 26 circles on a sheet of paper and have your child write the alphabet in the circles in a random order, scattering the letters all over the paper. After they have written all the scattered letters have them use a crayon or pencil to connect the alphabet dots in order from A to Z. You can also do the same to numbers.

Rainbow Plate
Supplies: Paper plate, glue stick, crayons, cotton balls
Cut a paper plate in half, draw a rainbow on the plate, glue cotton balls along the bottom of the cut plate.

TV/Movie Bingo
Supplies: Computer Paper, Pennies
Print out the template here (or make your own by drawing it out) and watch a TV show or movie with your child. Place a penny on a square whenever you see the action performed to get a BINGO.

Memory Game
Supplies: Deck of Cards, Pictures (Family Pics/Printed Pictures/Notecards), Modge Podge, Sponge Brush
Modge podge pictures on to some playing cards and have your child match them. You can either use pictures of the family, sight words on a note card, printed pictures off the internet of your child's favorite Disney characters, etc.
